The world can put so much pressure on you, it makes you wanna snap! Now Facebook is telling me how long it's been since my friends saw an update from me.
Your friends haven't seen a post from you for 2 days
In a discussion sparked by the book we're reading, my husband and I were talking last night about how we put pressure on ourselves. We've got higher expectations for ourselves than anyone else puts on us, and it can cause tremendous disappointment. You never know when you're talking to someone else who seems to have it all together that on the inside they may be so broken over the disappointment they feel in themselves. Could even be something minor and what you and I would think is incredibly insignificant. On the other hand at times we too quickly air our disappointment with our loves ones who let us down, not realizing that they've already sufficiently beaten themselves up for it, way more than we would.
Time to lighten up on ourselves and others. There are enough stressors in life that we certainly don't need to create new ones. Best way to overcome the pressure? Prayer!
Even just a few minutes a day of thanking God...intentionally setting aside time to tell Him what you're grateful for, not merely giving Him the laundry list of stuff you want or need...will bring such peace. Try it!And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
