The Rose of June

Two ladies visited me separately, giving me a copy of a book by a new local author, telling me I just HAD to read it. Janie Blackwood had visited their church and shared her story. After meeting her and reading the book, they were both too overwhelmed to keep it to themselves and they wanted me to interview her on Hope FM. When we met, it was like I'd known her for years. I had started reading the book, so I know she's endured more grief and misery than I could ever imagine, and I'm only through chapter 2!  Yet here she is, the most pleasant friendly woman you could ever meet, with love and joy spilling out on everyone she sees.

Having spent her childhood in a place of deep poverty and unspeakable violence, Janie couldn't help but share her story to help encourage others who are hurting. 

He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

2 Corinthians 1:4

 No doubt, it must have been difficult to re-live her story to turn it into a book. But by doing so and being transparent, she can give hope to others for their seemingly hopeless situations. Then she goes a step further: all proceeds and profits from the sale of the book go to two specific shelters for abused and neglected women and children.
